My Lessons

All Styles & Genres Taught

I tailor my lessons depending on the needs of the individual student. Everyone has a different pace of learning and feels comfortable in certain areas over others. I normally like to have a collaborative relationship with the student, where we can have an open conversation regarding their expectations, and I value their input.

If you already have a book or syllabus you want to follow that is absolutely fine and you can bring it along. Otherwise, I am happy to work out a lesson plan and materials and discuss it with you depending on your preferences.

Prices:

£10 per 1/2 hour
£20 per hour

Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.

Beginners & Advanced Students Welcome

I am delighted to offer my lessons to students of all ages and abilities from 7+. I will make a lesson plan that suits you.

My Experience as a Teacher

From my early childhood, I attended the conservatory for 8 years for piano lessons while I lived in Germany. I have also been in several choirs as well as other music courses for different instruments. However, the piano is the instrument I continued playing throughout my whole life.

I more recently completed a course in Vedic Chanting, which I found a very enriching experience and applicable to my music teaching. I have provided tutoring in music for many years. I can help you with both music theory and playing the piano as an instrument.

I normally discuss the students’ expectations with them, because I believe the lessons should be tailored to their needs. I adapt my lessons depending on the students, so that they can participate in a pace comfortable for them.

More About My Lessons

I am happy to teach complete beginners all the way up to intermediate and more advanced players. I normally suggest starting off with music theory and reading piano notation, as a basic grasp of it is very useful and essential for playing any instrument. It will also make things much easier when progressing further on the piano.

We will also look at proper posture, basic hand positioning on the keyboard and finger positioning through specific exercises. You will learn chord structure and how to play them within a variety of songs of your choosing, progressing to higher levels of competency with the piano. I am also very happy to tutor children, especially considering the benefits they can draw from playing the piano.

Piano lessons allow children to develop both listening and communication skills by understanding new concepts. The discipline deriving from guided piano lessons also improves the capacity to focus on a specific task, which will be helpful in school as well.
